Walter Galvis Castaneda known as (Wasalsa), dancer, choreographer and teacher of musical rhythms, was born in Colombia. Although this low-class neighborhood of Siloe was marked by violence this did not stop him from having excellent grades, discipline, and fellowship in school. In 2005 Walter learned to instruct multiple Latino rhythms, with intent to spread culture and teach ART with their bodies through multiple dances. He became a cast member of the Ballet Nacional de la Salsa de Colombia, a recognized group in Colombia. In 2008 a known Director, Gladis Lopez (Pupy), helped Walter further develop as an instructor and choreographer. In 2010 through 2012 Walter was recognized as best instructor of the Dance School El Manicero and the Ballet Nacional de Salsa de Colombia.
Walter’s artistic career turned in 2012 when he sought out for opportunities in the United States. His dream became reality when he inaugurated his own dancing school, Alianza Latina Inc., in 2013 forming professional dancers. Walter and Alianza Latina Inc. have received first place in the Children Category in the World Salsa Summit 2015, was named Artistic Director of the Feria de Cali New York 2016, and Champions of the Juvenile Category of the Los Angeles Salsa Congress 2017 to name a few achievements. Walter’s’ artistic life has been full of obstacles, he has never stopped fighting for his dreams and ideals. His biggest motivation is teaching his kids, watching them grow, not only artistically but as good human beings.
