|Es una orgullosa peruana que llegó a Estados Unidos junto a su familia persiguiendo un sueño, se ha destacado por su entrega a la comunidad y por ser parte de programas de desarrollo y liderazgo juvenil. En el En 2016 obtuvo su licenciatura en Administración de Empresas de Dowling College y actualmente trabaja como reclutadora del Centro de Oportunidades Educativas de la Universidad Estatal de Nueva York en Long Island. Espera capacitar a más y más personas cada vez, para que alcancen un nivel educativo que, les permita cumplir sus sueños.|
Maria Matos moved with her family from Peru, to Long Island in 2005. Her family decided to move to the United States seeking a better future and a better education for her daughter. Maria is a proud Latina, older sister, community volunteer and a leader. She loves her brown skin, rich culture, music and gastronomy. Maria feels proud of her roots. She loves her 12-year-old brother and she wants to be the best role model for him. Maria believes that opportunities will manifest itself if we just work hard enough.
She has performed community service at various events with in her school and her community. She held multiple leadership positions. In Brentwood High School she was 1 of 5 students that had the opportunity to travel to Albany for the Angelo del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute. Maria has been an active member of Youth Leadership Development program at Adelante. She was president of La Familia Club at Dowling College and was also part of the board of Student Government Association. In 2016 she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Dowling College. Now, she works as a recruiter for the State University of New York Long Island Educational Opportunity Center a nonprofit organization that offers FREE Vocational and Workforce Development. Her passion is to empower people to reach higher.
